VAN LOON RESTAURANTSCHIFFE K. Sahner, M. Simunovic & B. Höfler GbR Carl-Herz-Ufer 7, 10961 Berlin

EMPLOYMENT REFERENCE (ZEUGNIS)

Sahner, Simunovic & Höfler GbR has operated the stationary restaurant ship van Loon in Urbanhafen, along with the passenger ships Josephine and Philippa, since 1989.

All of our restaurant ships are equipped with a complete kitchen implementing an ambitious gastronomic concept.

The van Loon is a popular à la carte restaurant which attracts many guests during the summer months due to its water terrace. On the Josephine and Philippa, we host a wide variety of different events: Celebrations and parties of all kinds, weddings with or without ceremonies on board, company anniversaries, and events. In addition, culinary round trips are held for individual guests and smaller groups. During the summer season, we employ approximately 60 staff members.

Mr. Jan Korgaard, born on February 5, 1976, was employed on our restaurant ships as Bar and Counter Manager starting March 31, 2011.

Following a brief orientation period on the stationary restaurant ship van Loon, Mr. Korgaard was entrusted with the position of Head Bartender for all restaurant ships, thanks to his quick comprehension, expertise, and high level of dedication.

In addition to daily operational duties, Mr. Korgaard was responsible for the following areas as Bar and Counter Manager:

  • Supervising and coordinating all workflows in the bar and counter areas

  • Independent preparation and management of events in a leadership capacity

  • Inventory control (incoming and outgoing goods), ordering, and documentation

  • Acting as contact and negotiation partner for business associates and suppliers

  • Staff scheduling and personnel management in the bar areas

  • Training new staff members and mentoring apprentices

  • Organizing product and sales training sessions

  • Serving as a point of contact for employees and trainees

  • Coordination with the service crew and executive management

Furthermore, starting in October, as part of the business expansion, he played a pivotal role in planning, preparing, and implementing the entire new bar area:

  • Systematically establishing a new procurement and control logistics system

  • Researching and updating the product range including price calculations

  • Developing an extensive beverage menu

  • Preparing an internal newsletter to streamline internal communication channels

Mr. Korgaard performed his assigned duties to our utmost satisfaction at all times. He coped exceptionally well with heavy workloads and worked consistently reliably and conscientiously.

Mr. Korgaard was a cornerstone of our business expansion and enjoys our absolute trust. He is distinguished by his flexible, dedicated, responsible, highly motivated, creative, conscientious, and unfailingly reliable commitment to our operations. Displaying above-average dedication and enthusiasm, he consistently went above and beyond normal working hours for our company. Due to his exceptional potential, he was always able to present suitable solutions and contribute new ideas. His remarkable leadership qualities also contributed greatly to this.

We have come to know and value Mr. Korgaard as a highly cooperative, socially competent, absolutely loyal, and honest personality. He always handled the concerns of our guests and customers with great intuition and exemplary manners.

His conduct toward our guests, employees, suppliers, and executive management was always impeccable and characterized by extraordinary friendliness and competence. Consequently, Mr. Korgaard is extremely popular and valued by management, colleagues, and our guest circle alike.

Mr. Korgaard is leaving us at his own request. While we understand his reasons, we deeply regret losing such a valuable employee and remain ready at any time to rehire him in an advanced position.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for the outstanding work performed and wish Mr. Korgaard all the best for his professional and personal future.

February 2012,
Bettina Höfler
