Hi, my name is Jan Korgaard.
I am a documentary drifter who has moved through life along many detours.
It has shaped my vision.
I have been the fly on the wall.
I work with people through photography, film, and sound.
I listen and tell what I see and hear.
THE HIPPIE AND THE VIKING is a mini-documentary by Jan Korgaard.
The film portrays Jan Korgaard as a 49-year-old single father of two, living in Snaptun, and his work as a storyteller and communicator. It dives into the personal balance between two sides:
The Viking: The tough and passionate adventurer.
The Hippie: The sensitive, empathetic drifter.
Theme: The honest struggle to unite fatherhood, finances, and passion in everyday life.
Mini-documentary Transcript
I have told many stories over the years. But this one is harder. Because it’s my own.
I am 49 years old. A single father of two boys.
After many years in Berlin and Copenhagen, we now live in Snaptun.
Football has always been a part of my life, to a greater or lesser extent. And it led me to a life in front of the camera. Now, I stand behind it too. Storyteller and communicator.
At my core, I am half viking, half hippie.
Tough and sensitive.
Adventurer and drifter.
I can shout loud on a football pitch –
and be completely still and empathetic when someone opens up about the stories of their life. Dreams, traumas, and everything in between.
I am a drifter, flowing to where life makes sense. It makes sense when I experience and tell stories. When I meet people. In the everyday journey with my boys.
That life isn’t perfect. I struggle.
With time. With finances.
With the balance between being a father and a human being.
But the daily struggle to live out the adventure – that is the life I love.
Where the hippie and the viking are in balance.
A mini-documentary by Jan Korgaard
A life between strength and vulnerability.
Between responsibility and freedom.
Between the viking and the hippie.
I am the fly on the wall.
I listen.
I build trust.
I tell the story.
A maiden voyage that ended somewhere other than hoped.
